About the Role
I run Forensic Research & Media LLC, where I conduct deep investigative research into public companies. My background is in forensic accounting and financial analysis, and until now, I’ve been a one-person operation — by design. That’s changing.
Demand has been exceeding my capacity. I'm now looking for my first hire — someone who can support and collaborate with me primarily on the investigative and writing side of things. I'm especially interested in someone who brings excellent storytelling skills and some investigative instincts and to complement my technical focus. This is a hands-on role where you’ll help shape how we present findings and dig into complex stories that matter.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct deep-dive investigations into public companies to verify the accuracy of their statements and disclosures (from regulatory and SEC filings) through a mosaic theory approach.
Identify and pursue original, underreported, or obscure information sources such from foreign subsidiary filings or government documents (e.g., FOIA requests).
Utilize a wide range of media (e.g., social media, news archives) to uncover additional insights.
Interview third parties (suppliers, customers, etc.) to gain and validate information and perspectives.
Translate complex findings into clear, compelling narratives suitable for both internal stakeholders and external audiences.
Necessary Skills:
Strong ability to analyze and interpret financial statements (SEC filings).
Excellent writing and storytelling skills, with an eye for detail and narrative clarity.
Distinguish between opinion and verifiable fact, focusing on information relevant to a company’s core business and financial health.
Inherent curiosity about business operations, markets, and corporate governance.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); research database experience (Sayari, Orbis or OpenCorporates) is a plus.
Qualifications:
Minimum 3–4 years of investigative journalism, corporate investigations, or equivalent role.
Proven ability to distill research findings into clear, compelling written narratives.
Demonstrated experience analyzing public company filings and investor materials.
Background in business journalism, forensic accounting, or financial analysis preferred.
Our benefits:
Base compensation + bonus.
Health, dental and vision benefits.
Unlimited PTO
